Definition of the strategy and feasibility study for the launch of a radiopharmaceutical and nuclear medicine production activity in Saudi Arabia

The project aims to develop a production activity of radiopharmaceuticals for the diagnosis and treatment of cancer, a sector requiring significant investment and specialized expertise. C3Medical Consulting has developed a detailed plan to optimize the use of a cyclotron installed in a suitable building, defining the key steps, processes and necessary authorizations.

The company has also proposed different business models for the production and commercialization of PET radiotracers and theranostic treatments, with associated business plans to ensure the viability of the project.

Context & challenges

Offering radiopharmaceuticals to diagnose and treat certain cancers is a challenge for many hospitals or institutions around the world.

It is also a challenge due to the amount of investment required, the rare expertise that is difficult to find and the short lifespan of these products (from a few hours to a few minutes) which requires the implementation of adapted logistics.

Project description

To allow the best possible use of a cyclotron installed in a bunkered building built for this purpose several years ago, C3Medical Consulting defined the different stages of the project, the processes, the operational implementation plan and the obtaining of the necessary authorizations to carry out a highly regulated activity, as well as the human resources needs associated with the proper functioning of the investment.

The company also proposed to the owner different business models and their implications for producing, marketing (and using some of them on-site) PET radiotracers but also theranostic treatments (Lu177-PSMA, Lu177-DOTATOC; etc.), with the associated business plans.
