Specialized training for head oncology nurses from KAZIOR and oncology centers in southern Kazakhstan

C3Medical Consulting and ISRP organized a 119-hour training course for some thirty oncology head nurses from  southern Kazakhstan. The training, delivered at KazIOR and online by French trainers, aimed to strengthen the management of oncology care according to international best practices.

It has improved the organization, coordination and intervention of care teams in the face of the complexity of treatments and the psychological impacts of cancer. Upon completion of the training, all nurses have graduated and transformed their approach to oncology care.

Context & challenges

Kazakhstan lacks specialized training in oncology for its caregivers, unlike Europe where skills in cancer care management are well developed. Cancer patients require specific care, including coordination between various stakeholders and management of pain and psychological effects.

C3Medical Consulting and ISRP have therefore launched a training course to fill this skills gap in Kazakhstan, aiming to improve the practices of head nurses at oncology centers in the south of the country and strengthen the quality of patient care.

Project description

C3Medical Consulting, in partnership with ISRP, organized a 119-hour training for about thirty oncology head nurses in Kazakhstan. The training took place face-to-face at KazIOR and remotely with French trainers. She addressed the organization of oncology care, the coordination of medical and paramedical teams, as well as the management of the psychological aspects  of the disease. The modules combined theory and practice, with interactive techniques to encourage the involvement of the participants. In the end, the nurses graduated, transforming their approach to oncology care.

Results

The training allowed nurses to strengthen their skills in cancer care management, according to international best practices. It has improved the organization and coordination of care, while raising awareness of the psychological impacts of cancer on patients and their loved ones. All of the nurses have graduated, and they have expressed a profound change in their approach to cancer care. They are committed to applying these new skills in their daily practice, ensuring better quality care for cancer patients.
