Deployment of telemedicine in Tajikistan (Sughd region)

C3Medical Consulting is working with the Tajik authorities to deploy a teleconsultation case (FMC) in the Sughd region. Funded by the French government and Sanofi GHU, this case is equipped with connected medical tools to improve access to healthcare in rural areas and diabetes management. Mission details

Context

  • This project is part of Tajikistan’s National Health Strategy for 2030.
  • This mountainous country has a concentration of medical resources in cities, while 72% of its population lives in isolated rural areas.
  • 69% of deaths in Tajikistan are due to non-communicable diseases (diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular disease), which require prevention and monitoring.

Assisted telemedicine therefore appears to be a suitable solution to meet the needs of the Tajik population.

Choice of Sughd region

  • Large population, with Khodjent (the country’s second largest city) and remote areas.
  • The regional hospital has over 700 beds and specialists capable of providing teleconsultations.
  • Local political context favourable to innovation in healthcare.

The region would thus become a pioneer in telemedicine in Tajikistan.

Project benefits

  1. Faster and more frequent access to care, especially for isolated or chronic patients.
  2. Less travel for patients.
  3. Time savings for doctors (up to 4 consultations/hour).
  4. Better monitoring of chronic diseases such as diabetes.
  5. Reduction in emergencies and treatment costs.
