We have officially launched a teleconsultation pilot project in Kyrgyzstan

We have been working for several months with the French and Kyrgyz authorities as well as the national hospital in Bishkek, the hospital in Karakol and the medical teams in Jety Oguz to implement the teleconsultation project. Indeed, the Embassy of France in Kyrgyzstan offered the Kyrgyz authorities an FMC teleconsultation suitcase solution developed by the French company HOPImedical.

This solution, equipped with state-of-the-art connected tools (electrocardiogram, ultrasound machine, stethoscope, otoscope, hand-held camera, dermatoscope) makes it possible to carry out consultations in general medicine, pediatrics, cardiology, obstetrics gynecology, ENT, dermatology as well as remote monitoring of chronic diseases. The teleconsultation suitcase travels to eight villages in the region and thus saves patients from having to travel several kilometers to consult their doctor.

On Tuesday, the Minister of Health, Mr. Alymkadyr Beyshnaliev, and the Ambassador of France to Kyrgyzstan, Mr. Nicolas Faye, officially launched the project, in parallel with the signing of the declaration of intent between the two Ministries of Health.

Results

In one month, from September 1 to 30, 2024, more than 91 teleconsultations took place in local health centers, including:

– 35 with a cardiologist

– 34 with a neurologist

– 22 with a general practitioner-endocrinologist

Satisfaction rates are 100% for nurses and doctors, and 97% for patients. 100% of patients believe that they would not have consulted a specialist without the passage of the suitcase, and 97% of patients believe that they consulted faster thanks to the telemedicine device. These figures prove the usefulness and impact of telemedicine in improving access to care in rural areas.
